Piscataquis County Cooperative Extension Association Annual Meeting

The Rural Youth Futures Project will be presented at the Piscataquis County Extension Association Annual Meeting.

Researchers and extension staff joined forces with local non-profits to find out what middle and high schoolers think in the forest-dependent regions of Piscataquis and northern Somerset Counties in Maine and Coos County in Oregon. Dr. Jessica Leahy, University of Maine School of Forest Resources will be sharing the results of this 2019 survey of Piscataquis County school students. Also, Zach Davis, a Master’s degree student is developing new off-shoot research focused on workforce experiences and how to best deliver workforce development to marginalized youth in rural areas.

Sue Mackey Andrews, Facilitator for the Helping Hands with Heart/Maine Highlands Investment Partnerships will discuss the recent application to the Working Community Challenge Boston FED Grant for the Piscataquis County area.

Piscataquis County Extension staff will present an overview of this past year’s programs in Pecha-Kucha format and the 4-H Communications Science Team will present their video production. Piscataquis County Extension Association business meeting will be short and sweet.
