Maine 4-H Learn at Home

Maine 4-H is undeterred by the challenges of social distancing and stay-at-home orders. Across the state, counties have been working to put together resources for our 4-Hers and their families. If you have not already done so, please take a look at:

Every Friday, Maine 4-H adds a video with a different activity or science experiment. Watch for York County’s debut sometime in May! On Mondays, Nutrition Education professionals post Mainely Dish recipes. On Tuesdays, older 4-Hers can attend live QuaranTEEN Virtual Science Cafes, where they can meet UMaine scientists and learn about their research. Be sure to register ahead of time. OnWednesdays, the 4-H camps post Wednesdays in the Woods activities live on Facebook.

Parents, here is are some tips on how to handle having your kids learning from home:

Leader’s Recognition

Last month’s York County Leader’s Association meeting was held on a sunny Sunday afternoon and included cake and crafts! We are very thankful for all that our 4-H volunteers do, so we handed out certificates and pins, and made beaded snowflakes in celebration of the END of winter! Thank you to all of you who work so hard to run the York County clubs and keep 4-H programming strong in our corner of Maine. It is your dedication, enthusiasm, and willingness to complete endless amounts of paperwork that make our 4-H programs great!

And a special thanks to Sue Tkacik for taking time on her Sunday to supply us with beads and expert instruction.
