Modern Day Homemakers Group in Wells, Maine

Modern Day Homemakers Group is the only community group who are active in York County Extension Homemakers.

a Modern Day Homemakers project that includes tomatoes and other vegetablesWho are Modern Day Homemakers?

We come from all different walks of life:  working moms who want to make healthy meals in the crockpot, stay-at-home moms who want to start a garden, a Grandma who wants to keep animals, or process their produce.  We have people who want to learn how to sew, knit, crochet, hook rugs or do woodworking. Single or married women who are interested in making their own soap, household cleaners as well as learn how to bake bread.  We are here to learn from each other.

Modern Day Homemakers are all-inclusive.

All types of people are welcome to join. From the single apartment dweller to the one who is fully engaged in a running farm. What we all have in common is the desire to learn to do just a bit better for ourselves and our families. It’s not a competition. It’s a place where asking questions is okay. A place where we all can help one another along.

Meetings are hybrid in-person, some over ZOOM.

We have a core group of members and a much larger Facebook group we regularly share ideas with. Meetings are Sunday evenings on the last Sunday of the month.

Some projects we have recently been involved in, or are planning to be involved in, are:

  • Gardening and plant swap
  • Crockpot meals
  • Sewing projects
