Community Central – Getting Ready for Summer!

4-H interns, volunteers, and staff learning activitiesLast week, Community Central staff took part in the University of Maine’s Summer of Science (SOS) Train the Trainer day as we continue to prepare for our summer programming.

This year’s theme is Seaweed Aquaculture. As part of Community Central, youth across Lewiston and Portland will be exploring different types of seaweed that grow along the Maine coast, the important role seaweed plays in Maine industries, how much we consume seaweed without realizing it, and more! Over the next couple weeks, the Community Central Teen Leaders will receive their own training in Aquaculture, we’re excited to work with them throughout the summer.

The 4-H Summer of Science is supported by Maine EPSCoR and the University of Maine Cooperative Extension.
