
Cumberland Extension to offer food safety training for volunteer cooks in April
Falmouth, Maine — Volunteer cooks will have three opportunities to take University of Maine Cooperative Extension’s 3-hour food safety training in April: 9 a.m. – noon on Monday, April 7, 1–4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, or 1–4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30. All three sessions will be held at the Cumberland County Extension Office, 75 Clearwater Drive in Falmouth.
Cooking for Crowds offers up-to-date information on how to handle, transport, store and prepare foods safely for large group functions such as soup kitchens, church suppers, food pantries and community fundraisers. Participants receive Cooking for Crowds, a manual specifically designed for volunteer cooks; a certificate of attendance; posters; and an instant-read thermometer. This class meets the Good Shepherd Food Bank food safety training requirements.
