About the Committee
The Midcoast Sustainable Agriculture Committee brings together farmers, Extension staff, and agricultural advisors to support the evolving needs of commercial producers in Waldo, Knox, and Lincoln counties. The committee provides regional insight, helps shape local programming, and supports sustainable agricultural practices.
Our Mission
The Midcoast Sustainable Ag Committee connects and informs the region’s agricultural producers through conversation, education, and demonstration.
How It Works
The Midcoast Sustainable Ag Committee is a volunteer advisory group tasked with gathering, prioritizing, and presenting the ongoing educational and technical needs of commercial agricultural producers in Waldo, Knox, and Lincoln counties.
No legal or financial duties- No elected officers
- Meets twice yearly (fall and winter)
- Helps plan community conversations, spring program, and summer field tours
- Members serve one-year terms, renewable for up to five years, with a one-year break before rejoining
What We Deliver
Community Conversations
Hosted at local libraries and grange halls, these drop-in events provide space to socialize, share information, and connect with other farmers.
Spring Program and Summer Field Tours
Each fall and winter, the committee collaborates with the University of Maine Cooperative Extension to identify needs and design spring programming and field tours for the coming year.

New for 2025: “Ag Talk”
A quarterly farmer discussion series open to all Midcoast growers. Ag Talk sessions rotate across the three counties and focus on practical conversation, peer support, and shared learning.
