Reiche School

Since 2009, the Reiche School established a K-5 garden education program and are currently working to expand Reiche’s school-wide agricultural and educational traditions. The Reiche School offers an after school program, called the Green Team, which focuses on connecting children to gardening and the community. This school is a public elementary school located in Portland’s West End neighborhood. It’s a Title 1 school with 410 students, 74% of the student body receiving free or reduced lunch. Just like many other schools in Portland, Reiche School has many refugee students, an astounding 26 different languages are spoken at Reiche! Project Coordinators: Hazel Holmes and Denise Compton.
