Fistal Family Gardens at JCA

In the spring of 2017 the Fistal Family Gardens arranged and paid for two raised beds on the JCA property. Sheri Fistal filled, planted, maintained, and harvested vegetables for the pantry. Volunteers of the pantry did much of the harvesting.The Michael Klahr Jewish Family Services is a resource in the community that reaches out to those in need throughout Southern Maine.
The food pantry serves individuals and families facing food insecurities in the greater Portland area, Cumberland and York counties. It is part of TEFAP, a federal food distribution program. They serve many new arrivals to the United States and Maine. They are affiliated with the Good Shepherd Food Bank and the Wayside food program.
