Submit a sample to the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory
Production animals (chickens, sheep, goats, pigs or any type of animals used for food or fiber production), milk samples for mastitis screening, or environmental samples for salmonella screening. Companion Animals (dogs, cats or small pet mammals/pet birds) must be submitted through a veterinarian.
Submit an insect specimen to the Insect Identification Laboratory
Part of the Pest Management Unit; insect specimens collected from households, gardens and landscapes are identified. If the insect is a pest and not an incidental or beneficial, control suggestions will be given.
Submit a plant specimen to the Plant Disease Diagnostic Laboratory
Part of the Pest Management Unit; send all plant parts that you believe to be diseased. Ideally, the whole plant should be sent when possible (refer to our submission procedures for additional instructions).
Submit a tick to the Tick Lab
Part of the Pest Management Unit; fifteen different tick species have been found in Maine. Submit a tick for identification or disease testing.
