Invasive Plant Service Day at Camden Hills State Park
Saturday, January 5, 2019
12:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m.
Join the Maine Conservation Corps and Maine Natural Areas Program to help remove destructive invasive plants from Camden Hills State Park! Invasive plants can overgrow natural areas, strangle trees, and push out beneficial native plants. We will remove plants like Asiatic bittersweet, shrub honeysuckles, Japanese barberry, multiflora rose, and others.
Activities will include:
- lopping or snipping plant stems
- hand-sawing larger woody plants
Experts will be on hand to lead small groups and may follow behind to apply herbicide to cut stems.
Please dress warmly and be prepared for an active day outdoors.
Participants should be prepared with:
- warm boots
- gloves
- snacks and water
Light refreshments will be provided.
Registration is required so that participants can be notified of plans in the event of inclement weather.
For questions and to R.S.V.P., please contact Sara Knowles at sara.knowles@maine.gov by January 2.
