The University of Maine Cooperative Extension Parent Program of Mid-Coast Maine, Inc. offers several services for all parents:
- Home visits for new or expectant parents, using the Parents as TeachersTM curriculum. Parents as Teachers is an internationally recognized child development program that assists parents in realizing their potential as their child’s first and most important teacher. Mothers and fathers are provided with timely information on topics such as pregnancy issues, infant and early childhood development, and enjoyable parent-child activities that encourage language, intellectual, social, and motor development.
- Connecting parents with education programs to attain a high school diploma or GED. Assisting parents with transportation to necessary education programs and services.
- Group events, such as, field trips to the local children’s museum, story hour at the public library and music together groups, which provide great opportunities to have fun with other young families.
- Help with access to community support systems.
