Preserving the Harvest Overview – Cancelled

Ever wonder how to preserve all those great fruits and vegetables grown right here in Maine  Join us for an overview of current and tested safe practices of food preservation  We will review water bath canners, pressure canners, freezing, food safe freezer containers as well as dehydrating methods.  We will have lots of tips and tricks to make your food preservation safe as well as fun!
There will be a demonstration on blanching produce for freezing and using a water bath canner.
Free pressure canner inspections will also be available after the demonstration.
Laurie Bowen is a Community Education Assistant with the University of Maine Cooperative Extension.  She works as a Food System Program Assistant, providing food preservation workshops as well as Cooking For Crowds, a food safety training for volunteers.
