Exploring the World Around You
We are excited to announce a new program we are adding to the Piscataquis 4-H Passport Project. Six Saturdays from June 29th – August 10, Lynn Lubas will guide passport participants in “Exploring the World Around You.” Youth will learn about different parts of the ecosystem each week at various sites in Dover-Foxcroft including the Law Farm and Brown’s Mill Park.
Topics covered this summer:
- Bees – Native and Not
- Pollinator Plants
- Frogs, Toads, and Water Insects
- Invasive Plants and Insects
- Soils, Mosses, Lichen and Fungi
- Ecosystem Hike and Scavenger Hunt
Mrs. Lubas will kick off her program at the Dover Cove Farmers’ Market on June 29th at 10 a.m. with “Bees – Native and Not.” Karen Murphy will assist youth in making bee houses using dried knotweed. Youth interested in “Exploring the World Around You” must be enrolled in the Piscataquis 4-H Passport Project by June 3rd. Forms are available Monday, Thursday and Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at UMaine Extension, 165 East Main St. Dover-Foxcroft.
