Diane Qualey Retires

After 25 years of dedication to Cooperative Extension, Diane Qualey has retired from her position as an EFNEP nutrition educator. Lucky for us, Diane will continue her role as a 4-H leader! All of us in the York County Extension office wish Diane a happy retirement! Thank you Diane!

Fryeburg Fair Virtual Animal Project Show

A note from the Fryeburg Fair organizers: While we cannot be together in person this year, Fryeburg Fair would love to have you participate in our 4-H Animal Project Virtual Show (no market animals). Please create a 30-45 second video and provide a photo of you and your animal. The video and photo should be taken as if you are in the show ring and the camera is the judge. This event is an exhibition of projects and not a judged event. One entry per person per animal type.

Submit one form per animal type (one entry per person per animal type), you may use the ‘submit another response’ link after each submission. Entry deadline is 9/1/2020. Click the following link to view all events and contests:  https://www.fryeburgfair.org/p/events/virtual-fair1 All submissions become property of the Fryeburg Fair.

Coming Soon

In person programming and club meetings

We’ve waited months for in-person activities to restart and the time is almost here. There will be some restrictions in place, so don’t expect club meetings to go back to the way they were before COVID-19. Please be patient as we cautiously re-start programs and meetings. The York County Extension office will open with limited hours beginning the end of August. More details on the office re-opening will come as decisions are made about the new schedule.

Maine and Northeast Regional 4-H Dog Photo Contests

Do you have a photogenic dog? Now is the time to start the photo shoot! More information is coming soon about the Maine Dog Photo Contest. Check regularly for updates about the submission process here: extension.umaine.edu/4h/animal-science-resources/dog/dog-photo-contest/ There will be five categories of photos and the winners in each category will move on to the Regional Contest where they will be able to compete with winners from other states in the Northeast. All enrolled 4-H members may enter, not just dog or photography project members.

Virtual Fair Exhibit Halls

Thank you to all of the 4-Hers who submitted entries to the Virtual Exhibit Hall. The link to the virtual galleries will be going live any day now, so check https://extension.umaine.edu/4h/virtual-fair/exhibit-hall/ regularly to view the amazing work Maine 4-Hers did over the last year. Please be aware that the site might get busy and loading times for the galleries will increase based on the number of people trying to access them. Don’t give up! Pick another time to check it out. The galleries will be available for viewing until September 15th.
