Guidelines for Participation, 4-H Science Toolkits
- Please review and follow all safety information included in the binder. UMaine Extension is responsible for lending complete kits with all material in good working order. We are not responsible for injuries that may occur when using these kits. Adult supervision is required at all times.
- All borrowers are responsible for replenishing consumable materials used during their project.
- If equipment is returned damaged or missing, or if consumable materials are not replenished, the borrower may incur the cost to purchase new equipment/materials. The borrower may also have future borrowing privileges revoked.
- Borrowers are expected to fill out two brief forms upon return of the kits, indicating numbers and general demographics of youth participants, and a pre-return checklist of supplies.
- Kits should be reserved as far in advance as possible. When you inquire about reserving a kit, please allow five business days for a response.
- Kits are available for sign-out for up to one month at a time (some extensions apply). A return date will be agreed upon prior to the reservation being approved. Plan accordingly to return the kit, as another borrower is likely waiting to use it.
- It is recommended that photo release forms be signed for any photographs taken that could be in public view. Help to share your story, please share your pictures (and release forms) with us when you return the 4-H science toolkits.
- We appreciate it if youth and/or facilitators fill out the evaluation forms provided.
- Feedback on activities is encouraged!
- Participants are invited to make a donation to cover the cost of curriculum and equipment maintenance. This helps to ensure the continuation of the project for years to come. See included instructions in the binder for details.
