Youth Project Categories

Youth projects will be in one of three categories:

Youth Board Member

icon for Youth Board Member Icon categoryTeens will serve on a board, committee, or advisory council as a youth representative. The type of board could be based in a town, county, state, or non-profit organization. Teens will learn about public boards, the issues they address, and how to participate. The time commitment for this type of project will vary depending on the type of board they join.


Policy Leader

icon for Policy Leader categoryTeens will identify a rule or policy that is being created for a local, state, or national government. Next, teens will write a response or opinion about the rule, which will be presented to an official in writing or in person. The time commitment for this type of project will vary depending on how much the teen needs to learn about the topic of the rule.


Public Service Leader

icon for Public Service Leader categoryTeens will lead and complete a community service project on their own or work on a larger project with a partnering organization. Youth will learn more about their community’s needs and develop a basic strategy to complete a project. The time commitment for this type of project will vary depending size of the project and the number of partnerships.
