What are the educational benefits of this project and for what age group?
- This workshop, while not including children’s activities, is welcome to any age group. This workshop aims to provide homeowners, farmers, and anyone interested in agriculture or gardening with information about soil health and management, specifically preparing for winter.
Specifically, what tasks are to be completed?
- In this workshop, we’ll discuss and elaborate on care and preparation for garden beds and soil before winter arrives. This will cover topics as broad as pests and disease management, composting, mulching, cover crops, and late-season fruit and vegetable care. Protecting soil year-round is important for the health of soil as far as nutrients, avoiding erosion, disease management and soil composition.
Does the organization have the necessary materials and resources (plant materials, soil amendments, structures, etc.)?
- This will be an indoor event. Materials that can be brought indoors are encouraged
Can the organization provide the necessary tools? If not, what tools should the Master Gardener bring?
- We are happy to help in any way possible, but a visual presentation is ideal (i.e., PowerPoint) any pamphlets, reading materials, etc. also provided, we are able to print these out here if sent to Mackenzie Richard.
