UMaine Cooperative Extension offers free cherry tomato seedlings in Presque Isle, Houlton and Fort Kent
Thursday, May 22, 2025, Presque Isle Tractor Supply, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Friday, May 23, 2025, Houlton Tractor Supply, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
We are pleased to offer free cherry tomato seedlings (one per person) along with tips for growing them. The One Tomato Project is a program encouraging people to grow at least one tomato plant this year, which aims to inspire people to grow their own vegetables and develop a lifelong interest in gardening. This initiative is proudly supported by the University of Maine Fort Kent, UMaine Cooperative Extension Aroostook staff, 4-H volunteers and members, Master Gardeners and Homemakers.
Why just one tomato? One tomato is not expensive to grow–it’s pretty easy! Tomato plants can be grown by anyone, almost anywhere. Plant your seedling in your garden, in your flowerbed, in a container, a hanging basket, or even on your front lawn.
Friday, May 30 and Saturday May 31, 2025, UMFK, 34 Armory Rd, Fort Kent, 9:00 a.m to 12:00 p.m.
Fort Kent only will have:
FREE TOMATO SEEDLINGS: along with PLANT SWAP: The Aroostook County Master Gardeners will be sponsoring their Annual Plant Swap.
