Description:

– perennial

-leaf blade is 5–9 mm in width

-inflorescence

– has thinner leaves than other Scirpus with partition “ribs” across the base of lower leaves

– may be confused with S. atrovirens; see left sidebar on Go Botany webpage

Habitat:

-disturbed sites

-meadows

-fields

-wetlands

Natural History:

-native to North America

-widely introduced in Japan
