Description:

-perennial

-leaves are alternate on the stem

  • spiny and lobed

-generally flowers July through August in ME

Habitat:

-disturbed areas

-meadows

-fields

Natural History:

-native to Europe

  • introduction due to farm seed shipments

Agriculture:

-crowds native species

-reduces crop and forage yields
