-perennial
-native to North America
-leaves are:
- simple
- opposite
- whorled
- entire
-pollinated by flies and bees

Habitat:
-fens
-meadows and fields
-woodlands
Natural History:
-named for its use of stuffing mattresses
-its juice can be used for skin irritations
