How old do you have to be to work at Camp?
Applicants for staff positions must be a minimum of 18 years old and should be enrolled or have completed at least one year of college or university (or its equivalent). Bryant Pond also welcomes a limited number of Counselors in Training (CITs) to support various groups, with CITs typically having completed their junior year of high school.
Do you have to be a previous camper to work at Bryant Pond
Absolutely not! While we cherish our returning counselors each summer at Bryant Pond 4-H Camp, we wholeheartedly welcome individuals who haven’t been campers themselves. We embrace diversity in experiences and believe that fresh perspectives bring unique energy to our program. What does Bryant Pond look for when hiring staff?
In our search for field teachers and summer camp counselors, we prioritize individuals who bring a diverse range of personalities, backgrounds, and talents to our team. How many staff are hired each season?
In the Spring and Fall seasons we hire eight to ten Field teachers in addition to cooks and maintenance personal. During the summer season our staffing grows exponentially. We hire thirty or more new members to our team including camp counselors, nurses, program specialist, cooks and maintenance crew.
Does Bryant Pond hire International staff?
Yes, while we have limited positions available for international staff, we welcome the diversity and cultural richness they bring to our camp community. International staff members, selected through renowned services like Camp America, inject a global perspective into our programs. Their unique backgrounds and experiences not only enhance the overall camp atmosphere but also provide campers with a broader understanding of the world.
What is the salary?
At Bryant Pond, a summer counselor’s journey begins with a starting salary of $400 per week. We value your personal growth and contribution; hence, your salary can increase based on factors such as your, education level, the responsibilities you undertake, and your unique skills and experiences. One of the fantastic benefits of joining our team is that we provide room, board, and have laundry facilities available at no extra cost for the duration of your employment. This not only adds comfort to your stay but also allows you to save substantially over the summer. Plus, we recognize the importance of preparation – that’s why our pre-camp staff orientation is a paid period, ensuring you’re fully compensated as you gear up for an exciting summer at Bryant Pond!
Do counselors / Field staff staff have to work the full season?
At Bryant Pond, we ideally seek staff who can commit to a full session, ensuring a seamless and enriching experience for both staff and campers. We recognize, however, that commitments such as college and other obligations may impact your availability. If you anticipate any need for adjustments to the work schedule or early departure dates, we kindly request that you communicate this information prior to the start of employment.
What is the Interview / Hiring process like?
Upon receipt of your application, our team will promptly reach out to schedule an interview. While we have a preference for in-person interviews, we also offer the flexibility of conducting them over through virtual platforms like Zoom, Skype, or FaceTime. The interview serves as a valuable opportunity for us to get to know you better, and equally important, for you to gain insights into the vibrant world of Bryant Pond. A few clarifying steps.
- Students will be asked to provide two reference letters.
- Non- Students: Staff who are no longer a student at least 50% time will be asked to upload a resume, cover letter and references through a University portal that will be supplied to you once we receive you application through our website.
- All employees age 18 and older will need to successfully complete a background check prior to being employed.
- In some cases a health physical may be required for certain positions.
