Tuesday, November 27, 2012
102B Libby Hall
Facilitator: John Rebar
Note taker: Jon Prichard
Present: Dennis Harrington, Lisa Phelps, Jon Prichard, John Rebar and Fran Sulinski.
Guests: Aileen Fortune, Mark Hutchinson and Craig Freshley.
Please note: Due to the confidentiality and sensitivity of some agenda items, these ELT minutes do not represent the full content of each meeting.
Aroostook County Agronomy Position – The search has failed.
Personal Sustainability Research Project – Aileen Fortune and Mark Hutchinson updated the ELT on this project and also led the group in a focus activity related to it.
Non-Represented Professional Career Ladder: The ELT clarified its decision to implement a career ladder for non-represented professional employees within Extension who are not part of Extension administration. This career ladder is a discretionary decision that can be revoked in the future for financial or other reasons. This decision is being made because of the growing prominence of professional employees within Extension and the need for professionals to take on supervisory roles for more than one other professional. The ELT will discuss the criteria required for the non-represented professional career ladder at an upcoming meeting. A professional that goes from represented status to non-represented will enter the career ladder at the same rank as when they were represented.
Organizational Meeting – The ELT met with Craig Freshley, a consultant who may be hired to facilitate some strategic planning activities at the March organizational meeting. Craig will submit a proposal for our consideration.
Partnering with UMaine admissions – In December, Lisa Phelps, Laura Wilson and Sarah Sparks will be meeting with Dr. Jimmy Jung, VP for Enrollment Management. The ELT brainstormed ways that Cooperative Extension can partner more with UMaine admissions.
