Extension Leadership Team Minutes

Present:         Fran Sulinski, John Rebar, Dennis Harrington, Jon Prichard, and Lisa Phelps.

Guest:             Devon DeMarco, Liaison: ADVANCE Rising Tide Center

ADVANCE Rising Tide Center Update:  The ELT heard a brief presentation from Devon DeMarco who is a campus liaison between faculty and the ADVANCE Rising Tide Center. The purpose of the center, which is funded through a grant is to recruit, retain and promote female faculty in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and SBS (Social and Behavioral Sciences) related disciplines and to improve the campus climate.  Devon helps to support work place issues and provide referrals as needed so employees know where to go for assistance. She will be sending an introductory letter to faculty in the coming weeks that will include information about her role and how faculty can contact her.

Sabbatical Proposals:  Lisa shared a sabbatical proposal from a faculty member.

• Congratulations to Cathy Elliott, who has been awarded $30,000 from RSF Social Finance to support the environmental education work being conducted at the UMaine 4-H Camp & Learning Centers at Blueberry Cove and Tanglewood.
