ELT Minutes, October 15, 2013

Extension Leadership Team Minutes
October 15, 2013
Penobscot County Office
9:00-11:00am ELT Business Meeting
11:00am to 2:00pm — Time with Penobscot County Staff

Facilitator: John Rebar
Note taker: Jon Prichard

Check-in:

Federal budgets: We are assuming that our cuts are permanent, and are planning based on that. County funding remains strong and stable.

Legislators are visiting UM: Some key state legislators are coming to campus in mid-October to tour our diagnostic facilities.

Maine 4-H Foundation: The recent Maine 4-H Foundation meeting, the first with Susan Jennings in her new role as Executive Director, went very well. The future of the Foundation looks bright.

ELT Visit with Penobscot County staff and programs: The ELT meeting was held at the Penobscot County office and we enjoyed visiting with staff, learning more deeply about their programs, and a taking a wonderful tour of a raised garden bed site tended by children and master gardeners with the guidance of Extension professional Kate Garland.

If you would like the ELT to hold one of its regular meetings at your county office let us know.  It can be a great opportunity for you to highlight your programs to the ELT.

Future Agenda Items:

First quarter of each year: Updates from Tanglewood/Blueberry Cove, and Bryant Pond Camps.

Announcement Invitation:

The ELT invites you to submit items to be included in the minutes/announcements of the next regularly scheduled ELT meeting. This is an opportunity to share with the ELT and the rest of the organization any of the following:

  • Notable programmatic accomplishments

  • Significant new partnerships and/or opportunities
  • Important transitions

Please take the opportunity to share your good works through this avenue. Keep it brief, approximately two to four sentences would be appreciated. To submit an announcement, please contact your PA or appropriate member of the ELT.
