Contracts with the State of Maine: Any agreements or contracts that go through the State of Maine have to go through a new review process that will require more time. This new process will impact several projects within Cooperative Extension. The intention is to make sure that competition is part of the process to ensure the most cost effective and efficient use of state tax dollars. Dennis will be working with grant/contract principle investigators to explain the process.
Harvest for Hunger Partnering with Eat Well: The Eat Well program will be strengthening its connection to the Harvest For Hunger program to bring food to limited income people of our state. The ELT commends Barbara Murphy for her leadership, and all who work within the Harvest for Hunger effort in addressing the food security needs of the people of our state. Linking this effort to Eat Well is exciting and makes perfect sense. Many thanks to the Eat Well Team as well.
Bryant Pond: Fundraising for the purchase of property to be part of the camp is being proposed. Susan Jennings is seeking clarification for her role in the development effort. The Bryant Pond Board needs to take the lead; but Susan can be part of the process by explaining the value of the program and the impact of the camping program on the children and adults that participate.
Financial Transition for the Camps: Dennis reported that training has been held for the staff of the Tanglewood and Bryant Pond camps. The training has gone well and the staff are working hard to adapt to the changes. The Environmental Living and Learning for Maine Students (ELLMS) collaborative has generated over $290,000 in grants. Dennis is implementing the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to ensure that the funds are distributed appropriately.
Maine 4-H Foundation: The 4-H Foundation is planning for Audrey’s departure with the upcoming birth of her baby. The Clover Promotion was very successful with raising more than $11,000 in support of 4-H.
Piscataquis County Extension Association Executive Committee: The Piscataquis County Extension Association Executive Committee is requesting information on how other executive committees conduct their meetings. Jon, Lisa, and John will provide answers to their questions.

- Congratulations to Kristy Ouellette who has been awarded $25,542 by the National 4-H Council for the project “JCPenney and MetLife Minigrant 2012.”
- Congratulations to Glen Koehler who has been awarded $9,993 by Pennsylvania State University for the project “Spotted Wing Drosophila in New England – Rapid Response Training and Coordination.”
- Congratulations to Bruce Watt who has been awarded $5,500 by the University of Vermont for the project “Scouting to Reduce Chemical Pesticide Use in Greenhouse Ornamentals.”
- Congratulations to Karen Gagne who has been awarded $20,000 by Kansas State University for the project “OSD/OMK Supporting Local Regional Networks – York County.”
