Getting started. Who are you presenting to?

Start by identifying your audience. This key step allows you to present your research and findings in ways that can be understood by your intended viewers. Who is your audience: peers, legislators, or campus colleagues? Will they understand the terms and language you’ve used, including acronyms? What key points do you want to convey to your audience? Are these obvious and clear?

Credibility is is important to many audiences, so your work should reflect your affiliation with University of Maine Cooperative Extension. Include contact information, as well as written and visual cues that show the information is coming from a trusted educational source.

How you format information is also important. Clear, succinct messages combined with a high quality image(s) can help you effectively reach most audiences.
