University of Maine Cooperative Extension to Offer Hands-On Food Preservation Workshops

Ever wonder how to preserve all those great garden vegetables?  The University of Maine Cooperative Extension will offer hands on food preservation workshops in several locations throughout Washington County.  The workshop will teach the basics of canning and freezing, including how to use pressure canners and water bath canners to preserve pickles, jam and vegetables.  Fresh produce and canning jars will be provided.Workshops will be offered at the following locations-  August 13 at the Labor of Love Kitchen in Eastport from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.; September 3 at the Faith United Methodist Church in Columbia from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.; September 4 at Machias Savings Bank in Machias from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.; September 6 at St Croix Regional Technical Center in Calais from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.; and September 14 at the Labor of Love Kitchen in Eastport from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
