Handworks SPIN Group: Fun Opportunity for Learning about Felting, Weaving, and Sewing with Beginner Projects!
Explore 4-H by learning some basic handwork skills with 4-H volunteer Jenny Lassen. Youth ages 8 and up will learn the basics of machine sewing and make their own pillowcase. Cloverbuds will explore the basics of hand sewing and embroidery. Both age groups will have a chance to explore weaving by making loom potholders and felting by making felted cat toys to gift to a local animal shelter.
Time and Location:
Every other Monday, 1:30 to 3:00 p.m., beginning January 11, 2016 through March 21, with an April 4 snow day if needed, at the H.D. Moore Parish House and Library in Steuben, Maine.
Cost and Registration:
Space is limited. Pre-registration is required with a $10 registration fee for youth registering for the sewing project (ages 8 and up) and $4 for youth registering for the handworks projects (5 to 8 years of age). Youth ages 5 to 8 will need an adult helper to attend with them.
