Volunteers to be honored by Washington County Extension Association

The Washington County Extension Association will hold its annual meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 18, beginning at 5 p.m. with a potluck supper at Washington County Community College, 1 College Drive, Calais. The program and awards ceremony begin at 6 p.m.
Dana Hatton of Charlotte will receive the Norman W. Duzen Community Service Award for his volunteer efforts as fire chief, director of emergency services and officer in charge of the emergency medical technicians and first responders team. The University of Maine Pen Awards will be presented to Sandra Smith of Princeton for support of UMaine Extension 4-H program, Ed Farrell of Eastport who assists with the UMaine Center on Aging Senior Companion Program and Joan Miller of Marshfield who is a part of the Senior Companion Advisory Board and the Master Gardener Volunteers program.

The program features a presentation on UMaine Extension’s Dining with Diabetes Down East.
