UMaine Extension EFNEP offers free virtual nutrition courses beginning March 6

University of Maine Cooperative Extension Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) will offer two different four-week virtual nutrition classes beginning March 6 for Washington and Hancock County residents who meet the program requirements.

“Create Better Health” is intended for young adults ages 18-24 and adults with children in the home. Participants learn about healthy eating, meal planning, food budgeting, food safety and have a chance to make new recipes at home. After completion of the class, participants will receive a graduation certificate, a cookbook, cooking supplies and a $10 Hannaford gift card. This class will take place online on Wednesdays, March 6, 13, 20 and 27 from 10-11 a.m.

“Cooking Matters for Parents and Caregivers” is designed specifically for WIC and Head Start clients. Participants will learn about choosing healthy foods, food budgeting, meal planning, food safety, cooking tips and more. After completion of the class, participants will receive a graduation certificate, a cookbook, cooking supplies and a $10 Hannaford gift card. This class will be held online on Wednesdays in March from noon-1 p.m.

New sessions of these classes will be held on Wednesdays each month through October, classes are not offered in July and August.
