Rebecca Long, Coordinator of Horticulture Training Programs
The Maine Horticulture Apprentice Training launched in 2022 with the goal of strengthening the green industry workforce. Rebecca Long, Coordinator of Horticulture Training Programs for UMaine Cooperative Extension, will discuss how the training was created, and share successes and lessons learned from the first 3 years. The training model of combining a flexible online course with a hands-on apprenticeship offers a promising model that could be replicated to strengthen the workforce of other agricultural sectors in Maine.
