Fall is an amazing time to take a backwood excursion, as long as you are prepared! Planning and implementing an overnight backpacking trip can be a lot to manage if you have not done one before. If you are looking to gain some backwoods experience in preparing and implementing your very own backpacking trip then this program is for you! This three day, two night excursion will provide you with every opportunity to succeed with your own future adventures in the backwoods.
During this excursion, you will join our Bryant Pond guides as they lead you through preparing yourself to be in the woods overnight during the fall through meal prep, gear shuffles and trip planning. Prior to the trip we will learn about trip preparedness, what to bring and pack, and Leave No Trace principles. We will also cover meal prep and menus to ensure proper nutrition intake for those long hiking days. On the trip, we will hike to a remote site approximately 1-1.5 miles where we will go over proper camp etiquette and setup. We will finish the day enjoying a short summit hike to a local mountain, a wonderful trail dinner and a peaceful night in a tent. Post trip, we will demonstrate proper gear cleaning and storage before we depart for home.
Please reference the “What to Bring” list that describes our recommendations for this backcountry trip. Please No Cotton! We will have equipment available to borrow, including sleeping bags, hiking backpacks, etc, available for a small additional fee. Fall conditions in Maine change dramatically in the Fall and we want everyone to be prepared for this adventure.
