Telstar Freshman Academy (TFA)
TFA is a collaboration between SAD 44 and the University of Maine Cooperative Extension 4-H Camp and Learning Center at Bryant Pond. The freshman class at Telstar High School participates in project-based learning using multi-disciplinary units of study as a method for engaging students in real-world experiences that connect Maine Learning Results Standards with 21st Century Skills.
Students explore various systems, both social and environmental, and develop an understanding of their role and impact on said systems. Students engage in hands-on activities, learn how to pose questions, and seek answers to essential questions. Bryant Pond staff works with Telstar teachers to create dynamic learning experiences.
