The Franklin County Extension Association Annual Fall Open House will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, at the University of Maine at Farmington Student Center, 111 South Street in Farmington. The event is free, open to all ages and no registration is required.
The evening begins with a Garden Exploration of the UMF Community and Pollinator Garden, followed by an information fair at The Landing in the UMF Student Center. Visitors can bring questions, meet University of Maine Cooperative Extension staff and volunteers and explore programs and resources related to gardening, agriculture, food and nutrition, 4-H and more.
Three short demonstrations will be offered:
- 6:10 p.m.: Safe Lifting Tools and Techniques
- 6:40 p.m.: Budget-Friendly Meal Prep on the Fly
- 7:10 p.m.: Tips for Managing Pests and Diseases in the Home Garden
Visitors can also enjoy light refreshments, pick up native seeds and other materials, enter to win a free soil test and learn about opportunities to get involved with Extension. Light walking is involved.
