Learn the basics of food preservation during Preserving the Harvest, a hands-on workshop from University of Maine Cooperative Extension. Abigail Perry, a UMaine Extension Master Food Preserver Volunteer, will cover the basic steps of hot water bath canning along with other food preservation methods.
Participants will learn recommended methods for preserving foods, current safe recipes, equipment used for safe food preservation and how to check jars for a proper seal. Each participant will receive a “Preserving the Harvest” food preservation packet.
Please bring a potholder to the workshop. The cost is $25 total, including a $5 registration fee and a $20 materials fee paid directly to the instructor at class. Registration is managed by Franklin County Adult Education and the registration deadline is Oct. 7.
