Things to know:
- Most of your information will already be pre-loaded so it will be a simpler process of just reviewing/updating your data and completing annual sign-offs.
- If you reported volunteer hours at a project last year and the project has been renewed for this year, it will already appear in your list of This Year’s Projects.
- The following projects are automatically listed for you. We encourage all MGVs to become familiar with these:One Time Events: Workshops, presentations, fairs, etc.: If you give a presentation, work in a fair booth, work at an event table, or attend a one time workday (for example, working at your local Extension Office) or other similar event, please report that as a One-Time Event. Please report each event separately. Check with your county coordinator if you have any questions.Maine Harvest for Hunger at Home: Grow food at home for donation: work with a local food pantry on a plan to grow food at home that addresses their needs. Even better: coordinate larger donations with a group of at-home growers! Please contact your local MGV Coordinator with any questions.
- You’ll need to log in to the portal to report hours and impacts, add approved projects to your list, and update your contact information.
- You’ll be able to see how many hours you have submitted at any time and track your own hours. Please note: some counties have not yet submitted volunteer hours recorded before 2021, so these totals may be incorrect.
- You will be able to see when your background check is due by scrolling down on the View Your Information page. Background checks are good for 3 years, and currently required for all Master Gardener Volunteers.
- If you see that you need a background check, watch out for an email from us soon to complete that step.
Annual Master Gardener Volunteer Enrollment
Please click on the Enroll Today link on the My Projects and Hour Reporting to get started. Remember, you will need to complete enrollment in one sitting.
Why do we ask you to complete a yearly enrollment?
Enrollment is required for all volunteers to remain an active Master Gardener Volunteer. The enrollment form helps us collect up-to-date contact information and mandatory annual sign-offs on our non-discrimination and standards of behavior statements. It also gives volunteers the option to agree to a photo release statement, and the opportunity to sign an optional annual photo copyright release allowing UMaine Extension to use photos volunteers send us in promotional and educational materials.
What will happen if I don’t complete the form?
- You’ll miss important Master Gardener Volunteer updates including new volunteer opportunities and incentives for being an active volunteer.
- Your activities cannot be considered for official Master Gardener Volunteer hours.
- You will not be covered under UMaine liability coverage while performing volunteer activities.
