Staff Development Needs

Fran convenes the Staff Development Advisory Committee on a quarterly basis. This group is comprised of a cross representational team representing each employee group. The group provides advice and input to Fran with regard to training needs and priorities. If you are interested in being a part of this organizational committee please contact Fran. Currently a faculty member, support staff member and Community Education Assistant are needed. In addition, if there are pressing training needs please contact Fran to share that information.

Salary Offset Funds

Dennis Harrington has received questions about the use of salary offset funds, a portion of which expire each September. In light of reduced programming some staff are asking for an extension. In general, if a staff person has an identified need it may be possible on a case-by-case basis but staff need to check with Dennis before making assumptions about the availability of these funds. It should be noted that current UMaine spending restrictions may not always allow for spending of salary offset funds.

UMaine SafeSpace App

Hannah will communicate with Extension Faculty and Staff that if they are doing research, they will need to download the UMSafeSpace app and complete the training. This was outlined in the recent UMaine email (Monday, August 31) that was sent out by the Office of VP for Research.  Extension volunteers are not required to use the app.
