The Click Beetle is the adult form of the Wireworm.

Wireworm
Wireworms are the larval stage of the Click Beetle. This insect can cause tubers to be unmarketable because of the feeding damage. Wireworms are generally much more of a problem in fields that have been seeded down and out of production for three years or more. Several different species are found in Maine.
It is possible to find wireworms in tubers are harvest from infested fields. Wireworms can also be found in potato seed pieces if they are planted into infested fields.

Wireworm holes in tubers will be round holes that extend deep into the flesh of the potato.
