Rural Living Night 2021

April 13, 2021 @ 3:00 pm - 6:30 pm

Join us for this online event! Even though we are not able to gather for our traditional Rural Living Day this year, the Waldo County Extension Association is pleased to offer this opportunity to come together on Zoom.

3:00–4:30 pm: Grandmother’s Gift – Skomon (corn)

Shiwa Noh, from Nibezun, will speak about what it means to plant the original Wabanaki varieties of corn to connect to the ancestors, to bring healing through the ceremonies, to bring sovereignty, and rediscover the ancestral way of preparing the corn.

Tom Schmeelk, from the Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry will speak on about the Browntail Moth and its impacts in Maine including its history in Maine, biology, the current situation, management and mitigation strategies.
