What is a telltale sign of spring for you? Buds on trees? Bees buzzing? For us it’s vernal pools! Brimming with life and an important resting and feeding place for many organisms, we can learn a lot from these spring bodies of water. UMaine Cooperative Extension 4-H and Downeast Coastal Conservancy are teaming up to host a Vernal Pools (SPIN) Club that will meet Mondays April 24 – May 22 2:30-4:00 p.m. at Machias Bay Area Chamber of Commerce. We will walk to Downeast Coastal Conservancy’s Middle River Park in Machias. This club is for Washington County youth in grades 4, 5 and 6, and is limited to 15 participants.

This club will focus on exploring vernal pools ecosystems, making observations, and learning about how species rely on vernal pools. Registration is required.
