UMaine Extension adds ‘Swine 101’ seminar dates, locations in August
To meet demand in Hancock and Washington counties, University of Maine Cooperative Extension has added two sessions of the free seminar “Swine 101: Raising Pastured Pork.”
The sessions, both from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 13, UMaine Extension Washington County, 28 Center St., Machias; and Wednesday, Aug. 14, UMaine Extension Hancock County, 63 Boggy Brook Road, Ellsworth.
Colt Knight, UMaine Extension assistant professor and state livestock specialist, will talk about breed selection, reproductive information, nutrition, fencing, housing and meat yield. A smoked pork meal will be provided.
