Weed Management for Wild Blueberry

About Weed Management in Wild Blueberry Fields

Native and non-native plants other than wild blueberries in fields can be considered weeds when they compete with wild blueberries for sunlight, water, and nutrients. However, there are some weeds that provide important ecosystem services such as pollinator habitat and erosion management. For managing any pest species, including weeds, follow our Integrated Pest Management (IPM) guidelines to prevent impacting non-target species.

On this page you’ll find resources to identify and manage weed species in Maine wild blueberry fields through both chemical and cultural means. For more information on managing weeds in organic systems visit our Production Page.
