Strawberries mean it’s summertime in Maine. Learn to prepare and preserve strawberry jam using less sugar with University of Maine Cooperative Extension staff and Master Food Preserver Kate McCarty. We will learn how to safely preserve strawberries using the boiling water bath method. Participants will receive recipes and a jar of jam. Please bring a potholder with you to class.
Kate McCarty has been the Food Systems Professional at UMaine Extension since 2009, after serving in the AmeriCorps VISTA program. She has completed the Master Food Preserver program, an intensive, hands-on training in all aspects of home food preservation. Kate manages the volunteer efforts of the 60+ Master Food Preserver volunteers statewide and teaches food preservation programs in 7 Maine counties.
