Elevate your taco nights with our nutritious Whole Grain Tortilla recipe. Made with whole wheat flour and nonfat dry milk, these homemade tortillas are not only delicious but also contain fiber and protein.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • ¼ cup instant nonfat dry milk
  • ½ tablespoon baking powder
  • ¼ cup oil (canola, olive, or vegetable)
  • ½ cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons warm water
  • cooking spray

Instructions
 

  • Clean the kitchen area and wash hands with soap and water.
  • Combine flour, nonfat dry milk powder, and baking powder in a mixing bowl.
  • Add oil and mix well with fingertips.
  • Add water slowly to the mixture using one hand for mixing to work into dough.
  • Lay out on a clean cloth. Divide dough into 6 medium sized balls and roll out each ball until round, flat and thin on the clean cloth.
  • Spray pan with cooking spray. Cook on moderately hot pan, turning each side until lightly browned.
  • Store homemade tortillas in an airtight container or sealable bag in the refrigerator for longer shelf life.

Notes

  • To reheat the tortillas: put one tortilla on a plate and cover it with a damp paper towel, microwave for 20-30 seconds.
