Peanut Butter Balls

These Peanut Butter Balls are a great way to introduce children to cooking and food safety. With only four ingredients (nut butter, honey or maple sryup, cereal, and non-fat dry milk powder), this filling snack will be sure to satisfy all ages.
Course Snacks
Servings 12 balls

Ingredients
  

  • ¼ cup nut butter or nut butter substitute
  • ¼ cup honey or maple syrup
  • ½ cup instant non-fat dry milk powder
  • 1 ½ cups whole wheat cereal flakes

Instructions
 

  • Clean the kitchen area and wash hands with soap and water.
  • Mix nut butter, honey or maple syrup, and dry milk in a bowl.
  • Shape into 1-inch balls.
  • Crush cereal into crumbs by putting flakes in a plastic bag and rolling with a rolling pin.
  • Roll balls in cereal.
  • Chill until firm for 30 minutes or longer.

Storage

  • Refrigerate any leftovers as soon as possible or within 2 hours for safety.
  • Use leftovers within 4 days.
  • Leftovers can also be frozen in freezer-grade containers or bags and used within 3 to 4 months for best quality.

  • The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends that you do not give honey to a baby younger than 12 months.
