Rhubarb is one of Maine's earliest crops ready for harvest.  Join us for a demonstration on freezing this delicious and nutritious perennial.   Learn about best practices for safe food preservation. We will also review other methods for preserving rhubarb as well as using it fresh.  Recipes will be provided to participants. Food Preservation Demo

Join us for an evening of hands on food preservation methods as we preserve that Maine kitchen staple, Rhubarb!  We will get some hands on experience with preserving rhubarb by three different methods; water bath canner, freezing and drying. Laurie Bowen is a Community Education Assistant with the University of Maine Cooperative Extension.  She works as a Food System Program Assistant, providing food preservation workshops as well as Cooking For Crowds, a food safety training for volunteers.
