The UMA Bangor Community Garden & Garden Labyrinth are dedicated to growing food for hungry Mainers and providing a space for building community through gardening, meditation, activities and events. Since 2016, the garden has provided food to the UMA community (a majority of our students are low income, and many face food insecurity). In Fall 2018, in partnership with the Peace and Justice Center of Eastern Maine, we began building a circular walking labyrinth with raised hugelkutur beds. In addition to being a meditative and beautiful space, these beds will provide food for the Shaw House and the Bangor Area Homeless Shelter. Volunteers will work alongside students to prepare, plant, maintain, and harvest the gardens through the season. Project Coordinator: Kati Corlew
