Volunteers to be Honored by the Washington County Extension Association
The Washington County Extension Association will hold its Annual Meeting on Tuesday, April 2nd at 5:00 p.m. at the Cherryfield Congregational Church located at 12 River Road. The public is invited to attend.
Arthur Carter of Charlotte will receive the Norman W. Duzen Community Service Award. Arthur has made many contributions to the city of Calais and many surrounding communities including his volunteer efforts at the Irene Chadbourne Ecumenical Food Pantry, Down East Hospice Volunteers, St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, Charlotte Volunteer Fire and Rescue, the Pembroke and Charlotte Historical Societies as well as many other organizations and projects.
The University of Maine Pen Awards will be presented to Shirley Moores of Lubec for her contributions to the Senior Companion Program and to Marilyn Ness of Lubec for her commitment and contributions to the Washington County Senior Companion Program, 4-H Program and as a former President and board member of the Washington County Extension Association.
The evening program will feature business owners who have participated in the Recipe to Market Program of the University of Maine Cooperative Extension. Local specialty food business owners will participate in a panel discussion.
