Introduction to Beekeeping Course

Date(s):  Thursdays, February 16 and 23 and March 2, 9, and 16, 2017 (Snow Date of March 23, 2017)
Time: 6:30-8:30 pm
Class location: University of Maine at Machias, Science Building, Room 102
Cost: $60 per person/couple includes Bee-Sentials: A Field Guide by Lawrence J. Conner and Robert Muir
The course is limited to 30 participants.

Session #5 –

  • Identification and Control of Diseases, Parasites and Predators of Honey Bees

Session #6 – Beekeepers’ Field Day
Look inside a hive and see the difference between workers and drones, learn to recognize brood, pollen and honey.  The date and site for this event will be announced and will take place on a Saturday in May or June.  Participants will gather for a hands-on experience of viewing and handling honeybees at a location in Washington County.
